Fruit Pizza with Sugar Cookie Crust and Cream Cheese
This recipe holds a special place in my heart because it was one of the first things I ever brought to a potluck that made people stop mid-conversation to ask for the recipe. It looks like something from a bakery window, but every single component comes together with ingredients you probably already have.
The sugar cookie crust bakes up golden and soft, the cream cheese layer spreads on like a dream, and then you get to arrange whatever fruit makes you happy. We are not chasing perfection here, just something beautiful and delicious made with care.

Tips & Notes
- Make sure your butter and cream cheese are fully softened before you start. Cold butter will not cream properly and cold cream cheese will leave lumps in your frosting.
- Pat your fruit dry with a paper towel before placing it on the pizza. Extra moisture will make the frosting soggy faster.
- You can press the cookie dough out a few hours ahead and keep it wrapped in the fridge until you are ready to bake.
- Any fruit works here. Peaches, grapes, blackberries, and sliced bananas are all great. Use what looks best at your store that week.
- For clean slices, use a sharp knife wiped clean between cuts.

Why the Cookie Crust Makes All the Difference
A lot of fruit pizza recipes use store-bought sugar cookie dough, and honestly, there is nothing wrong with that shortcut. But once you make this homemade version, you will notice the difference. The texture is softer in the center with a slightly crisp edge, and the vanilla flavor comes through in a way that the tube dough just cannot match.
The key is not overbaking it. Pull the crust when the center still looks a little underdone, because it finishes cooking on the hot pan as it cools. This is the same logic we use for brownies, and it gives you that perfect soft bite every time.
Making It Your Own
One of the best things about this recipe is how flexible it is. The fruit arrangement is completely up to you, and there is no wrong answer. Monochromatic all-red fruit looks stunning. A rainbow spiral looks like something from a magazine. A relaxed handful of whatever you grabbed at the store looks just as inviting once it hits the cream cheese.
You can also play with the frosting. A little lemon zest stirred in adds a bright note that pairs beautifully with berries. A teaspoon of almond extract instead of vanilla gives the whole thing a slightly different warmth. This recipe is a foundation, and you get to build from there.
