Easter Egg Cheese Ball
This cheese ball is shaped and decorated to look like a festive Easter egg. It’s a crowd-pleasing appetizer that adds a playful touch to your holiday spread.
The cream cheese base is easy to flavor and shape, while colorful herbs and spices create the egg design. Kids love helping with the decorating part.
How to Shape and Decorate Your Cheese Ball Egg
Getting the egg shape right is easier than it looks. Start with slightly damp hands to prevent sticking, then gently roll the cheese mixture into an oval that’s wider at one end. The pointed end should be subtle, not dramatic.
For the decorative stripes, use a small spoon to press shallow grooves into the surface before rolling in your coating. This creates natural channels for different colored herbs and spices to settle into, giving you clean lines without any special tools.

- Shape egg: With slightly damp hands, shape the cheese mixture into an egg shape about 5 inches long, making one end slightly more pointed than the other. Place on a serving plate.
- Create grooves: Use the back of a small spoon to gently press 3-4 shallow grooves lengthwise down the egg, creating stripes about 1/2 inch apart.
- Coat and decorate: Roll the entire egg in chopped pecans, pressing gently to help them adhere. Fill alternating grooves with chives and paprika, then dust remaining grooves with parsley. Refrigerate for at least 1 1/2 hours until firm and the flavors meld together.
